The Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® has a rich history of quality leaders among its ranks. Planning for future generations led to the development of an innovative new leadership training program. In 2005, LeadershipOAR was launched to identify and cultivate Oklahoma REALTORS® who will not only secure a positive future for OAR, but also gain personal enrichment that extends to their personal business and communities as well.

LeadershipOAR is a year-long program consisting of five retreats held at various locations around the state. LeadershipOAR is similar to other community-based leadership development programs, but the curriculum is tailored specifically with a REALTOR® perspective. The retreats feature professional speakers, government officials and NAR/OAR leadership who all share valuable leadership experiences with the group. Activities are comprised of academic analysis of leadership skills along with identifying leadership skills, team-building exercises, goal setting, personal profile analysis, network building and improving communication skills.

Each year, the LeadershipOAR selection committee seeks a limited number of REALTORS® with diverse areas of expertise across the state for participation in this program of distinction.

Purpose of LeadershipOAR

• Identifying Oklahoma REALTORS® who have demonstrated leadership potential through job-related and community activities
• Training participants by developing leadership skills
• Motivating participants by:
  
  • Increasing awareness of real estate and our association
  • Involvement in problem-solving activities on issues of current interest
  • Providing a network of leaders across the state who are actively involved in improving our association and profession
