Key Issues at NAR Board Meeting
A summary of key issues coming before the NAR
Board of Directors has been
published. Among these are whether we
should rescind the “franchisor display” provisions of the IDX policy
entirely or seek different ways to enhance the policy, and clarification of
the word “competitor” used in Article 15 of the Code of Ethics. Along with
the summary is an audio version recorded by President Ron Phipps.

2011 Five-Point Housing Solutions Plan
Recently NAR participated in New Solutions
for America’s Housing Crisis, a conference hosted by the Progressive
Policy Institute and Economic Policies for the 21st Century (e-21) two
well-respected policy think tanks.
The conference brought together policy leaders, industry representatives,
Members of Congress, thought leaders and the media to present ideas and make
actionable recommendations intended to stimulate the growth necessary for a
sustained recovery in housing and extend an ensuing positive effect on job
creation and the broader economy. NAR has endorsed many of the bipartisan
ideas and recommendations that came out of the meeting and has urged
Congress and the Administration to undertake their consideration promptly.

Thoughts from the OAR Staff on Member
Value
“Just
as consumers value REALTORS® for guidance and service, at OAR we are here to
support you. Your Association is committed to monitoring potential issues
and adjusting our navigation through lobbying the legislature and making
up-to-date education available. Last spring we sponsored two significant
bills through the legislature. One allows licensees to use digital
signatures with real estate contracts and the other relieves your liability
when talking about property size figures obtained from third parties. We
continually offer varied professional development opportunities that
strengthen your career. Right now as short sales and foreclosures are on the
radar, November’s GRI features a specialty course to help you guide
consumers in this segment of the market.
If there’s something we’re doing—or not doing—and you’d like to tell us
about it, feel free to call or
e-mail me.”
