Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When do I become an actual
member of OAR, therefore eligible for the insurance?
A: The date you finish
your orientation.
Q: If I leave my company for
another company who is not signed up, can I continue getting the insurance
through COBRA or any other method?
A: No. Once you leave
the participating office your coverage terminates immediately.
Q: If my office is
participating in the insurance, but I missed the open enrollment period of
May, can I still sign up at any time?
A: No. If you have
been with that company since they signed up in April and you missed the open
enrollment period, you are not allowed to sign up any other time.
Q: I just transferred to a new
participating office, but the enrollment period has passed. Can I still sign
up at any time?
A: Yes. The timeframe
for new or transferred members to a participating office is 45 days from the
start/transfer date.
Q: I just started a
new company and am an OAR member and the Broker/Owner of the new office. Can
I sign up to participate in the insurance even though the April 30th
deadline has passed?
A: Yes. The
timeframe for a new company's Broker/Owner is 45 days from the company's
start date.
Q: I am not a member of OAR
yet. Can I sign up for the insurance if my Broker/Owner is a participating
office?
A: No. You have to
wait until you have completed your orientation, then you will become an OAR
member.
Q: My office is not a
participating office in the insurance, but I really need insurance and the
April-May timeframe is months away. Can I sign up anyway?
A: No. You have to
wait until your office is a participating office and signs up in April.
Q: If I change my license
status to Inactive but continue to work for the Broker/Owner who is signed
up for the insurance, do I still receive insurance?
A: No. Once your
real estate license (and, therefore, your OAR membership) becomes Inactive,
you are no longer eligible to receive insurance. |
